Abstract Submission Guidelines

The Organising and Scientific Committee of the 69th Panhellenic Conference of the Hellenic Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HSBMB) welcomes the submission of original abstracts according to the following submission guidelines the latest by 8 October 2018.

The abstract submitted will be assessed and grouped by topic. Accepted papers will be presented as poster presentations or as oral presentations (short speeches). The Scientific Committee reserves the right on the final decision of the presentation type.

New investigators who wish to present their research during the 6th Panhellenic Young Investigators Forum of HSBMB, must fill in the appropriate field while submitting their abstract in the online submission form. The abstract that will be included in the Forum will the same with the one that is submitted at the conference. Please note that presenting your abstract at the Young Investigators Forum does not come with further registration fees.

Oral

The duration of the presentations will be announced according to the Congress Program.

Poster

The poster size will be 0,80 at width and 1,20 (max) at height.

Approved papers must be presented under the topic are indicated in the programme. Otherwise, as regards posters, the indication “Not presented” will appear next to the paper title, and the authors may not include any reference to the paper in their CVs.

Authors ought to be at the display area, during their presentation session, where a discussion with the audience and Evaluation Committee will take place.

Submission of abstracts & guidelines

Abstracts must be submitted not later than 8 October 2018, by filling the online submission form available at www.eebmb-congress.gr. Abstracts received after that deadline will not be accepted.

A prerequisite in submitting an abstract is that at least one of the authors should be a registered member of the HSBM.

For every accepted abstract is required for at least one of the authors to be pre-registered.

All details have to be filled in the English language.

Make sure that the contact information you submit is correct because it will be used for further correspondence via email.

After successfully submitting your abstract, you will receive a confirmation email on the address you have stated. If this is not the case, please contact the Congress Secretariat.

As soon as you fill in the required fields, you will have to attach a Word file with your abstract (Title, authors, address, text) written in the English language.

Authors are exclusively responsible for the submission of their presentation according to the abstract submission guidelines and for submitting their paper in due time according to the abstract submission deadline.

If guidelines are not followed, abstracts will be returned to sender/writer to correct them, if the abstract deadline hasn’t expired.

In case the submitted abstract does not respect the rules and there is not time for correction due to the abstracts deadline, it will be disqualified automatically.

We recommend that you do not let the presentation of your work for the last week, as the electronic system can be overloaded and you may not be able to submit your abstract eventually.

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to include a presentation according to the needs of the Congress’ Scientific Programme or even change the presentation type from oral to poster.

After successfully submitting your abstract, you will receive a confirmation email on the address you have stated. If this is not the case, please contact the Congress Secretariat.

Software

Abstracts should be typed on a word processor and the document in .doc or .docx type.

Guidelines for font, size, spacing, and alignment of the Abstract

Title

The title should be as brief as possible (no more than two lines) and It should be written in Arial, justify text alignment, lowercase font, size 14.

Leave one (1) empty pass, size 10.

Authors

All of the names should be written in the nominative in a Heading Font; the family name should follow the first name and they should be written in Arial, lowercase bold font, size 11 and justify text alignment.

The presenter’s name should be underlined, and optionally an asterisk should be put to the name of the author who is responsible for the correspondence. Listed names should be separated by a comma, e.g. Maria Papadopoulou, Asterios Papadopoulos*.

Leave one (1) empty pass, size 10.

Address of Institution

It should be written in Arial, size 9, center text alignment in lowercase italic. The name of the institution should precede the location, if the location is not included in the name of the institution (e.g. Research Center, Ippokration Nosokomeion, Thessaloniki, Greece or Department of Neurosurgery, 424 Army General Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece). When more than one institution is mentioned, the reference superscript should be written in parentheses before the name, e.g. M. Papadopoulou1, A. Papadopoulos2

Leave one (3) empty passes, size 10.

Subheadings

Approved papers must be presented under the topic are indicated in the programme. Otherwise, as regards e-posters, the indication “Not presented” will appear next to the paper title, and the authors may not include any reference to the paper in their CVs.ν συγγραφέων.

Main Text

It should be written in Arial, 11 pt, single line spaced, without spaces between paragraphs and the number of the words should not exceed the 300.

Optionally

Leave two (2) empty passes, size 10.

References or acknowledgements

Arial font, left text alignment in lowercase italic, size 10.

 

Authors alone are responsible for the context quality of the abstracts which will be published as sent.
